Kate’s Kitchen is a significant resource centre for the Annan community, as the Kitchen ‘plugs’ a hole in service provision and acts as a ‘hub’ for professional agencies, providing vital links between service users, volunteers and the appropriate professional body.
Our aim, apart from providing a hot, healthy meal, is to enable and empower our clients and volunteers in many aspects of their lives and to help them take control by providing the skills they need to become self-sufficient. This, in turn, increases their sense of self-worth and wellbeing.
To do this, we have a paid support worker who sits with clients on a one-to-one basis and deals with any issues or concerns raised and offers help and support as needed. As some clients also find it difficult to access essential information vital to their health and well being, in such situations, help can mean anything from reading and interpreting correspondence to advocacy, and providing practical assistance with budgeting and life skills.
The team at Kate’s Kitchen has built trust with clients and sometimes act as advocates. We also have an experienced support worker who assists and supports our clients in all areas including accompaniment to
- Medical appointments
- Court appearances
- Health assessments
We also offer tenancy support as needed.
Sign Posting and Advice Referral
Through the provision of support services, Kate’s Kitchen has built close relationships with partner agencies and we regularly signpost our clients to the right agency where they can access the best support and advice available to them.
